IHME Edition 2010

FREE SHOP by Superflex takes place in an ordinary shop. Anything purchased in the shop by any given customer when FREE SHOP is being performed is free of charge.

Anything the customer wants to purchase is free. FREE SHOP can happen anywhere, anytime, to anyone.

FREE SHOP by Superflex takes place in an ordinary shop. Anything purchased in the shop by any given customer when FREE SHOP is being performed is free of charge. There are no signs or other sources of information indicating that the merchandise, goods, services, etc. in the shop are free. The customer will not realize that the merchandise, goods and/or services have been purchased for free until the checkout assistant gives them the receipt for the purchase, showing the total zero.

There is to be no information on display as to who is paying the cost of Free Shop (including information on any other partners or sponsors). The shop must be economically independent of the person or institution that implements Free Shop. The limits placed on Free Shop may include setting a maximum total value of goods and services that can be bought when Free Shop is being performed. They may also stipulate the period of time during which Free Shop is to be enacted. Information about the maximum total amount or time period must not be displayed in any way to customers in Free Shop.

Free Shop acts like a virus, maybe a good virus that allows us to wonder whether our economic system could be based on something other than traditional, market-economy rules, which is a set of social rules for exchange and therefore a construction.
